AspenTech's APM Portfolio Recognized as a Leader by Independent Analyst Firm

For the second time in a row, AspenTech’s APM suite has been recognized as a market leader in the 2024 Verdantix Green Quadrant®: Asset Performance Management Solutions report.

The newest report released earlier this month recognized AspenTech’s APM portfolio, including Aspen Fidelis, Aspen Mtell, Aspen ProMV, Aspen Process Pulse, and Aspen Unscrambler, for its capabilities in asset health monitoring, failure prediction and performance optimization and asset lifecycle management. AspenTech was also recognized in the independent analyst’s 2022 report.

According to the report, AspenTech “scored a perfect 3.0 (of) 3.0 for asset health through out-of-the-box capabilities to build and maintain an asset health database.”

Analysts also highlighted the systems’ use of AI, awarding AspenTech Mtell the highest score (2.7 of 3.0) for failure prediction, for providing pre-built asset templates based on AI and physics-based data. Those templates, the report said, support anomaly detection, false positive identification and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA). In addition to pre-built templates, analysts highlighted AspenTech’s ‘bring your own model’ approach as further empowering users seamlessly integrate external models into Aspen Mtell, enabling improved collaboration and data management.

The report even highlighted Aspen Mtell’s real-world benefits, citing a case in which the system provided GSK with up to 35 days advance warning of equipment issues, resulting in millions in savings and avoiding 15 lost batches per failure prediction.

AspenTech’s APM solutions also earned the highest score (2.9 of 3.0) for performance optimization, with analysts citing the ability of Aspen Mtell and Aspen ProMV to continuously monitor equipment health and performance. That continuous monitoring allows for tracking potential failures and identifying different types of production losses, including downtime, process instability, and quality and yield issues.


By integrating those capabilities with Aspen Fidelis, the report found, users can not only forecast equipment availability, but can predict throughput, identify bottlenecks, conduct system wide analyses and estimate the financial impact of those potential problems. Fidelis’ ability to evaluate “what-if” scenarios also helps users plan how to react to problems before they arise, and the cost impact of those strategies.

In the case of multinational food and beverage manufacturing firm ADM, the use of Aspen ProMV's optimizer allowed the company to increase conversion in a fermentation process, meeting quality standards and reducing process residence time by 40 hours, resulting in increased throughput.

n recognition of its ability to reduce energy and resource waste, as well as emissions tracking and optimization capabilities, the APM suite received the second-highest score (2.4 of 3.0) for environmental performance. In particular, analysts highlighted the introduction of pre-built sustainability pathways in 2023 as a way to accelerate decarbonization and the use of Aspen Virtual Advisor and generative AI to improve decision making, leading to higher margins and reduced emissions.
