Antonio Pietri

Antonio Pietri

President and Chief Executive Officer

Antonio Pietri is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AspenTech, and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Prior to his appointment to President and CEO in 2013, Pietri served as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations, where he led global Sales, Sales Operations, Professional Services, and Customer Support & Training. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Regional Operations, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore and Beijing, China.

Pietri joined AspenTech through the company’s acquisition of Setpoint, Inc. in 1996. At Setpoint, Pietri held a range of sales, services implementation, and consulting roles, where he oversaw integration of AspenTech solutions at European refinery and process manufacturing sites. In 2002, he relocated to Singapore as Vice President, Business Consulting, and was subsequently promoted to Managing Director of the Asia Pacific region.  He began his career at ABB Simcon as an applications engineer focused on advanced control and multi-variable controllers for refining.

Pietri serves on the Chemical Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Tulsa.  He was the 2024 inductee into The University of Tulsa College of Engineering & Computer Science Hall of Fame, the 2017 selection for the MIT Warren K. Lewis Lectureship in Chemical Engineering and is a frequent speaker at industry events.  He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.

Tony Antoun

Tony Antoun

Chief Research and Software Development Officer

Tony Antoun is the SVP, Chief Research and Software Development Officer for AspenTech, leading the R&D group to drive product releases, including product development, architecture and standards, product quality (QE), product security, software operations, product documentation and eLearning. In this role, he will also focus on product-specific innovations, including sustainability features and technology research.

Tony has extensive expertise leading development for applications, cloud services & infrastructure and data platforms. He was most recently at MSCI, Inc., where he was Managing Director, and member of the Executive Team, driving digital transformation for financial investment data and modeling. There, he migrated products and services to the cloud and created a OneMSCI central platform and built a new set of Investment-Solutions-As-A-Service applications. Prior to MSCI, Inc., he was at GE Digital as Sr. Vice President, building the Intelligent Edge Platform. He contributed to the development of the Predix Edge2Cloud platform. He also spent 20 years at Microsoft where he held leadership roles in General Management and Software Development, most notably building the Office suite of applications for iPhone, iPad, Mac and web platforms.

Tony holds a BS in Computer Science from Notre Dame University – Louaize.
David Baker

David Baker

Chief Financial Officer

David Baker is the Chief Financial Officer for AspenTech, responsible for driving corporate strategy and leading the finance organization to deliver long-term value to shareholders. David joined AspenTech from Emerson, where he spent over 27 years in various financial leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President, Financial Planning, where he led financial planning and analysis for the entire $17 billion corporation.

Prior to this role, David served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Automation Solutions at Emerson, where he spearheaded a multi-year cost reset plan that impacted organizational structure and plant footprint, among other areas. As a result of this work, Emerson’s $11.8 billion Automation Solutions business reported record orders, sales and EBITA in 2022. Before joining Emerson, he held roles at Graco and KPMG.

David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and an MBA from the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management.


Manish Chawla

Manish Chawla

Chief Customer Officer

Manish Chawla is the SVP, Chief Customer Officer for AspenTech, leading our customer success strategy and partner engagement. In this role, he is responsible for driving excellence in customers’ outcomes by focusing on the end-to-end customer experience.

Manish is an experienced technology executive, most recently working as the Global General Manager, Industrial Sector, at IBM. In this role, his scope was broad, leading the IBM portfolio growth across a rapidly transforming set of industries that spanned Automotive, Electronics/High Tech, Aerospace & Defense, in addition to his many years of leading Energy, Resources and Manufacturing industries. He co-led IBM’s work around Energy Transition, Sustainability and Industry 4.0 including IBM’s focus on hybrid cloud and the Industrial Edge for Manufacturing and Resources.

Prior to joining IBM in 2008, Manish worked at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) from 1999 to 2007 and consulted with several global clients on a variety of transformation initiatives at scale. Before joining KPMG in 1999, Manish worked with Accenture in India and the UK for three years and was focused on manufacturing cost reduction projects as well as ERP implementations.

Manish earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering and immediately matriculated at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad where he obtained his MBA.


Heiko Claussen

Heiko Claussen

Co-Chief Technology Officer

Heiko Claussen is the Co-Chief Technology Officer at AspenTech, leading the company’s artificial intelligence research and technology strategy. He is focused on the future of AspenTech’s technology direction and is responsible for fostering synergies and innovation throughout the company.

Prior to AspenTech, Heiko was Head of Autonomous Machines and Principal Key Expert of AI at Siemens and led initiatives to enable autonomous machine applications for factory automation. During his 15-year tenure at Siemens, he worked in many areas related to AI and digitization, including remote monitoring, machine learning, robotics, pattern recognition and statistical signal processing.

Heiko is a recipient of numerous technical awards and recognitions. He has been named Inventor of the Year twice at Siemens—in 2016 for the development of a virtual sensor to monitor the flame status of gas turbines and in 2019 for the development of a neural net accelerator for industrial control systems. He is also the author of over 100 registered inventions with 67 granted/published patents.

Heiko holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ulster, UK, and a Dipl.-Ing degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Kempten, Germany.
Christopher Cooper

Christopher Cooper

Chief Legal Officer

Christopher Cooper joined AspenTech in 2021 and serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary with responsibility for setting the strategic vision, priorities and goals for the legal and compliance functions, aligned with the company’s broader business objectives. He serves as a legal and business advisor to the company’s Board of Directors and senior leadership team on the wide variety of legal, regulatory and compliance matters impacting AspenTech and the industry.

Prior to AspenTech, Chris was the SVP, Head of Legal and Corporate Secretary for Boston Private with responsibilities including advising the board of directors of corporate governance matters, structuring and negotiating strategic transactions, ensuring compliance and supporting other business functions. Before that, he was the Director of Global Legal Affairs for Jabil where he advised on governance and disclosure issues and a wide array of business transactions, while providing comprehensive legal services across multiple countries for the company’s Packaging Division and Strategic Companies.

Chris received his Bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School. He is admitted to the bars in Massachusetts and New York.

Vikas Dhole

Vikas Dhole

Senior Vice President, Product Management

Vikas Dhole is the SVP, Product Management at AspenTech and leads the strategy and performance of our product portfolio and related asset optimization and sustainability solutions. After joining AspenTech in 1997 as a Technology Manager for Advanced Process Design, he held varying product leadership positions across Performance Engineering, leading the suite as Vice President of Product Management for over 13 years. Recently, he served as General Manager for the company’s portfolio-wide sustainability solution strategy.

Vikas has championed innovative technology and software solutions throughout his career in the areas of sustainability, process design, energy management, process and asset optimization across the lifecycle and has authored several publications on these industry topics. Prior to joining AspenTech, he was Technology Director at Linnhoff March Consulting. He also held the position of University Lecturer in the Department of Process Integration at the University of Manchester in the UK.

Vikas has a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, India, and a PhD in Process Integration from the University of Manchester, UK.
Stuart Harris

Stuart Harris

Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer

Stuart Harris is the SVP, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer for AspenTech, responsible for corporate marketing and leading strategy development, focused on delivering sustained and differentiated performance.  

Stuart has extensive global experience in automation and asset management within the process industries, including leading strategic planning, global marketing, digital strategy and industry programs. Most recently, he worked as Group President, Digital Transformation for Emerson’s Automation Solutions business. While at Emerson, he also served as Vice President Planning and Global Marketing Officer.

Stuart earned a Higher National Certificate, Business and Finance from De Montfort University, in addition to a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management and a Master of Science degree in Marketing, from Staffordshire University.

Satish Shetty

Satish Shetty

Chief Information Officer & Chief Information Security Officer

Satish Shetty is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for AspenTech with responsibilities for setting the strategic vision and driving priorities across the IT and Cybersecurity functions. He is a recognized technology executive with a proven track record in digital transformation of medium- to large-sized companies in technology, life sciences, media & advertising and manufacturing.

Prior to joining AspenTech, Satish was the global CIO for Ansys, a $2B engineering simulation software company. He engineered the digital transformation of a high-tech business and matured the company’s cybersecurity capability. Prior, he served as CIO for global companies in both public and private equity model, and also led product engineering teams as CTO helping companies stabilize, scale and build digital products and platforms.

Satish holds a Master of Science degree in an interdisciplinary program with the School of Business and School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He has received eight patents in the field of technology applications and has authored numerous articles and publications.
Filipe  Soares-Pinto

Filipe Soares-Pinto

Senior Vice President, Global Sales

Filipe Soares-Pinto serves as Senior Vice President, Global Sales, based out of Houston, Texas.

Prior to his current role, Filipe was AspenTech’s SVP of Sales and Operations in Growth Markets, which included Asia Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa. Earlier, he was the SVP of Asia Pacific, based out of Singapore, having relocated from Brazil where he served as Vice President of Latin America. Previously, he was the Vice President of Southern Asia, based in Thailand. 

Filipe joined AspenTech in 2002 through the acquisition of Hyprotech.

Filipe holds an MBA from ESADE Business School in Spain and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the UK.

Dimitrios Varvarezos

Dimitrios Varvarezos

Co-Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Dimitrios Varvarezos is Co-Chief Technology Officer at AspenTech, responsible for leading, formulating and supporting the company’s technology strategy, including technology planning, research activities, technical collaborations, M&A technology due diligence and the promotion of innovation culture.

Dimitrios joined AspenTech through the company’s acquisition of DMCC in 1996.  During his tenure, he has held both technical and leadership positions in the R&D and professional services organizations for key products areas including Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. He pioneered the development and led the successful deployment of novel modeling and optimization solutions in the areas of real-time optimization, refining and petrochemical planning, scheduling and blending, as well as primary and secondary distribution.

Dimitrios is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the inventor of many U.S. and international patents, and the award-winning author of numerous peer-reviewed articles.  He has been the organizer and invited speaker at international conferences, and the recipient of several academic and industrial awards.  He holds a BSE degree in Chemical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
Sharon Vinci

Sharon Vinci

Chief Human Resource Officer

Sharon Vinci is the Chief Human Resource Officer for AspenTech, responsible for development and engagement of the company’s diverse, growing global workforce.

Sharon has over 25 years of HR experience in the areas of people strategy development, business partnership, talent attraction and management, employee engagement, culture evolution, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational effectiveness focused on creating opportunities for success for colleagues and building healthy organizations.

Prior to joining AspenTech, she was Segment CHRO at Jabil, where she supported C-suite leadership and the Board of Directors while leading broad enterprise initiatives, including leadership team effectiveness, competitive M&A selection and transfer processes, multiple organizational change and transformation projects, leadership and tech talent development processes, and actionable Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) plans.

Sharon earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University.
