Sub-basalt seismic imaging in the Deccan traps, along the northwest coast of India, is very challenging, due to the morphology of the traps.
This case study from Kutch Offshore, India shows how to enhance sub-basalt as well as basaltic sequences using pre-migration demultiples and depth migration. Depth (beam) migration can effectively consider lateral velocity variations and ray bending at velocity boundaries. The beam methods themselves are accurate, flexible and efficient.
