President and Chief Executive Officer
Antonio Pietri is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AspenTech, and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Prior to his appointment to President and CEO, Pietri served as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations, where he led global Sales, Sales Operations, Professional Services, and Customer Support & Training. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Regional Operations, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore and Beijing, China.
Pietri joined AspenTech through the company’s acquisition of Setpoint, Inc. in 1996. At Setpoint, Pietri held a range of sales, services implementation, and consulting roles, where he oversaw integration of AspenTech solutions at European refinery and process manufacturing sites. In 2002, he relocated to Singapore as Vice President, Business Consulting, and was subsequently promoted to Managing Director of the Asia Pacific region. He began his career at ABB Simcon as an applications engineer focused on advanced control and multi-variable controllers for refining.
Pietri serves on the Chemical Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Tulsa. He was the 2017 selection for the MIT Warren K. Lewis Lectureship in Chemical Engineering, and is a frequent speaker at industry events. He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
Senior Vice President, Product Management
David Arbeitel is Senior Vice President, Product Management at AspenTech, responsible for the company’s product management and strategy.
David has led Product teams including Product Management, Strategy, and Engineering for more than 35 years and was most recently at OpenText, where he was Vice President Product Management, leading product management and strategy for Business Network, OpenText Cloud, and Security, LegalTech, and Artificial Intelligence solutions.
David was also Vice President of Product Management at CA Technologies where he led product management and strategy for cloud service provider, enterprise, and identity and access management solutions.
Prior to CA Technologies, David held Chief Technology Officer roles at Lumeta, ION Networks and Visual Networks, and he was co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Avesta Technologies. He has also held senior engineering positions with Morgan Stanley, Shearson Lehman Hutton, Amerada Hess and RCA-American Communications.
David holds an MBA and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Boston University and a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to AspenTech, Chantelle spent 7 years with Cisco Systems Inc. She held multiple leadership positions, most recently as Senior Vice President, Finance driving the Cisco financial transformation to a recurring revenue business model. In addition, she was the CFO responsible for delivering compliant growth for the $13B Cisco Customer Experience divisional business. Previous roles at Cisco include Vice-President, Finance Americas where Chantelle led the $25B Americas division, partnering with the SVP, Americas Sales.
Before Cisco, Chantelle worked with GE where she held progressive, executive global finance roles. She drove finance and business performance by building winning teams, establishing strong partnerships, processes, and accountability. Through her 15 years with GE, Chantelle completed 3 executive finance leadership programs, worked 10 years in Europe and specialized in both Services and Operations/Supply Chain finance. She is Lean/6-Sigma Black Belt trained, and a champion for diversity leadership development.
Chantelle holds an Honors Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada) and is on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Lazardis School of Business & Economics, WLU.
Chief Technology Officer
Willie K. Chan joined AspenTech in 1982 and serves as Chief Technology Officer, bringing to this role more than 35 years of experience in developing computer software solutions for optimizing the performance of chemical and refining processes. In this role, Chan leads the technology strategy, R&D and quality assurance functions for AspenTech products on a global basis.
Chan was a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ASPEN research program that later became AspenTech, and has held a variety of senior technical and management positions in the company. Most recently, Chan was Senior Vice President, Technology, where he led the establishment of AspenTech’s R&D Centers of Excellence in Bedford MA, Houston TX and Shanghai China. He also drove the integration of aspenONE software products, incorporating molecular modeling, solids process simulation, sulfur recovery modeling, process safety, dock/pipeline scheduling, machine learning and other technologies into the aspenONE suite. He also oversaw the development of the next-generation user interfaces, activation workflows and other technology advancements.
Previously, Chan held a number of R&D leadership positions for Engineering Products at AspenTech, including the integration of the HYSYS family of products and the creation of the Aspen Engineering Suite. He began his career at AspenTech by leading the development of separations and petroleum technologies.
Chan holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Chief Revenue Officer
Manish Chawla is the Chief Revenue Officer for AspenTech, responsible for aligning teams, processes and systems to successfully scale the organization with best-in-class profitability.
Manish is an experienced technology executive, most recently working as the Global General Manager, Industrial Sector, at IBM. In this role, his scope was broad, leading the IBM portfolio growth across a rapidly transforming set of industries that spanned Automotive, Electronics/High Tech, Aerospace & Defense, in addition to his many years of leading Energy, Resources and Manufacturing industries. He co-led IBM’s work around Energy Transition, Sustainability and Industry 4.0 including IBM’s focus on hybrid cloud and the Industrial Edge for Manufacturing and Resources.
Prior to joining IBM in 2008, Manish worked at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) from 1999 to 2007 and consulted with several global clients on a variety of transformation initiatives at scale. Before joining KPMG in 1999, Manish worked with Accenture in India and the UK for three years and was focused on manufacturing cost reduction projects as well as ERP implementations.
Manish earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering and immediately matriculated at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad where he obtained his MBA.
Al Eliasen is President, OSI at AspenTech, responsible for the management and strategy of the company’s OSI business.
With more than 25 years of experience in corporate operations and engineering management, Al is an automation industry leader known for his excellence in managing complex projects, building high-performance teams, and developing leaders while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
Most recently, Al was President of OSI, when it was formerly an Emerson business. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer of OSI, where he oversaw all functions dealing with delivery to customers, including the technical project operations and project management teams.
Prior to his career with OSI, Al held technical leadership roles at Air Liquide Electronics US LP, BOC Edwards, August Technology and Axcelis.
Al holds a Bachelor’s degree in in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an Master of Science in Management from Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Executive Vice President
John Hague is an Executive Vice President at AspenTech. In this role, John is responsible for commercial integrations, ensuring the alignment of our internal sales organization with go-to-market strategies.
John is a seasoned member of AspenTech’s executive team, where his most recent role was leading the Operations function since January 2020. Prior to that role, he led the APM business turning it into one of the key drivers of AspenTech’s transformation.
Over the past 20 years, John has served in a variety of key executive roles at AspenTech, overseeing the sales organization for North and Latin America, building out the Middle East and North Africa business region as well as driving AspenTech’s global partner strategy and several key acquisitions. John also led product operations in the early 2000s as a member of the Products organization. John previously worked with Conoco where he held management positions in several business areas including roles supporting the DuPont organization. He has also held management positions at Scientific Software and Advanced Pipeline Technologies. He holds a B.S. and an MBA from Oklahoma State University.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Frederic G. Hammond joined AspenTech in 2005 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary with global responsibility for corporate governance and legal matters. Hammond has over two decades of experience in public company general counsel and global operational and transactional experience.
Prior to AspenTech, he handled SEC disclosure and other public company and technology issues as a partner at a Boston law firm. Before that, Hammond was Vice President of Business Affairs and General Counsel at Gomez Advisors, Inc., an Internet performance measurement and benchmarking technology service firm, with responsibilities for corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and creditor restructurings and commercial contracts management.
He held earlier positions as General Counsel of Avid Technology, the publicly-held international leader in digital video and audio editing, special effects and production solutions; and as a member of the corporate department of the law firm of Ropes & Gray. Hammond is a graduate of Boston College Law School, cum laude, and Yale College.
Senior Vice President, Corporate Development
Glover Lawrence is AspenTech’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and is responsible for the company’s corporate development and business planning processes. Previously, he held a variety of corporate development roles in investment banking and high technology environments, most recently at Avid Technology. At Avid he led acquisition strategy and managed the company’s strategic planning processes, working closely with Executive Management and the Board of Directors.
Lawrence began his career with Morgan Stanley as a financial analyst where he performed mergers and acquisition analyses for a number of clients including companies in the Chemical and Manufacturing industries. At Hambrecht & Quist (now part of JPMorgan), he advised clients on strategic transactions including acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures, and he has served as a Managing Director in the Venture Fund at Oracle. He also co-founded and served for five years as a Managing Director with McNamee Lawrence & Co., an international investment banking advisory firm, before joining Avid.
Lawrence holds a Bachelor’s degree from Yale and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Senior Vice President and General Manager
David Leitham is Senior Vice President and General Manager at Aspen Technology, Inc. David is leading AspenTech’s approach to the pharmaceuticals market, defining the solutions that will best serve the manufacturing needs of the sector and working with sales leadership to accelerate the company’s go-to-market strategy.
Prior to AspenTech, David spent nearly 20 years with Thermo Fisher Scientific. He held multiple leadership positions, most recently as Vice President and General Manager responsible for a team of more than 500 people that consistently delivered double digit growth in software revenue while also driving upwards of $1 billion in connected annual sales. David also drove digital transformation efforts for multiple businesses within the company, while also integrating and harmonizing product divisions for improved organization and performance.
His previous roles include Glaxo SmithKline where he served as Vice President, Information Engineering, Technology and Architecture; The Network Connection where he served as Vice President, Software Engineering and Vice President, Application Development; and FAAC Incorporated, where he held several engineering positions.
David attended Penn State University where he holds a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Skip Maloney joined AspenTech in 2018 as SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). He is responsible for development and engagement of the company’s diverse global workforce, including thought leadership for the organization’s culture as AspenTech evolves into a new period of growth. Initiatives he is implementing to support this strategy include differentiated talent models and agile organizational methods, building on AspenTech’s strong history of innovation and execution. Skip has more than 25 years of experience leading creative solutions for optimizing global workforce outcomes, with special emphasis on executive coaching, predictive analytics and talent management strategies.
Prior to AspenTech, Maloney served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Netscout Systems, Inc., a $1.5B provider of application, network and cybersecurity performance management software. As CHRO, he designed and led HR strategy for a 3,000+ employee global organization with offices in over 40 countries. At Netscout, he spearheaded the assimilation of teams and organizations from multiple acquisitions, and led an organizational design strategy that resulted in a more unified executive leadership team.
Previously, Skip was VP of Human Resources at Lake Region Medical, where he was responsible for overall HR strategy. He also led HR functions at Brooks Automation and Mercury Computer Systems, and is a Certified Professional Executive Coach.
Vice President & GM, Metals & Mining
Jeannette McGill is Vice President & GM, Metals & Mining at Aspen Technology. Jeannette leads strategy and growth for AspenTech in the global metals and mining market to best serve the sector’s needs.
Jeannette’s global mining sector experience includes production, and technology development across mining companies, services and applied research.
Previously she was Head of Technology and Innovation for Anglo American Platinum and most recently Head of Telstra Mining Services, responsible for the growth of an industry vertical resulting in technical firsts in mission critical connectivity, offshore, underground and in remote geographies; ensuring automation and workplace safety for the resources sector.
Jeannette has post graduate degrees from the University of Pretoria and the Colorado School of Mines where she holds a MSc (Earth Science Management), MS (Mineral Economics and PhD (Economic Geology).
Steve Santy is President, Subsurface Science & Engineering (SSE) at AspenTech, responsible for the management and strategy of the company’s SSE business.
With more than 30 years of experience in leading commercial and operations teams, Steve most recently served as President of Emerson’s Exploration & Production software business unit. Steve joined Emerson in 1998, where he held several global leadership roles in commercial strategy, business development, operations and product development.
Prior to his career with Emerson, Steve worked for MTI Analytical Instruments and Andros, Inc.
Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Physical Chemistry from the University of California.
Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
Lawrence Schwartz joined AspenTech in 2018 as SVP and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). He is responsible for Corporate Marketing and brings to AspenTech more than 20 years of experience building world-class marketing organizations for growing companies.
Most recently, Schwartz served as CMO at SoftwareONE, a $7B software and cloud portfolio management company with business in over 80 countries. While at SoftwareONE, he grew press and industry awareness, built a diverse digital demand generation portfolio, rolled out new branding and messaging, led multiple international events, developed thought leadership in a variety of forums, and launched several new offerings to the marketplace. Prior to SoftwareONE, he served as CMO for Attunity, a leading provider of information availability software solutions for the enterprise. Previously, he held senior marketing and product management positions at EMC, E Ink Corporation and Tokutek.
Schwartz is a sought-after speaker at industry conferences and has been quoted in numerous publications. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics, also from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, AIoT Solutions
Bill Scudder joined AspenTech in 2015 and serves as Senior Vice President and General Manager, AIoT Solutions. AspenTech’s AIoT Hub provides the foundation for industrial AI, including flexible data mobility and integration from on prem to the cloud, and empowers our customers to get actionable insights faster than ever with our next-generation Industrial AI solutions. He previously served as the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, and remains responsible for the company’s IT organization.
He has more than 25 years of IT leadership experience, developing and implementing mission-critical, global technologies and building the operations and IT organizations to support them.
Prior to AspenTech he was Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Sonus Networks, where in 2011 he was named CIO of the Year by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. Before Sonus, he was Senior Director of Information Technology at EMC, leading IT for its RSA Security Division and holding senior IT positions at RSA prior to the acquisition. Previously, he held executive positions at Smith & Nephew, a $2B global manufacturer of medical devices and consumer healthcare products.
Scudder holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from Boston University.
